Hotdrop's debut, breaks out in the market with a new sound, that will delight dub lovers and fans of primitive rhythms in a modern key.
Recorded at Bus Stop Records and Doppler Studio (Madrid) by Roberto Martínez and Antonio Monsalve, its originality is greatly due to its coproduction between the band and the prolific Victor Rice (Estudio El Rocha, Brasil) known, among other musical aspects, for his productions of different bands as Slackers, Dr. Ring Ding con Senior All Stars, Firebug, o Version City Rockers. Mastering was achieved by Ibon Larruzea of Euridia, whose big experience, when speaking of spanish reggae, was warranty of a nice final touch.
The LP has 12 original cuts, four of them were dub versions, signed by unmistakable Victor Rice's style. In addition, Hotdrop features invaluable collaborations. That is the case of Ranking Forrest and his Deejay performance evoking 80's jamaican artists, and a brass section made of musicians of other Madrid bands, in the song 'Thirsty'.
Each cut creats its particular atmosphere, due in part, to the lead singers' diversity and their different expressivity when interpreting the melodies. Thanks to their vocal versatility, the lead voice is always accompanied by a backing vocals section, whose rich and varied harmonies plays a fundamental role. The rough base is built up from compact drum, bass and percussion rhythms, accompanied by two guitars (lead and rhythm) that make the perfect match. And last but not least, the weight of a classic one, a hammond organ, together with piano, rhodes or synthesizers, fill the music with endless nuances, that end up defining Hotdrop's musical quality. The atmosphere created by this band, can be experienced live, where the sound engineer takes part and submerges the audience in the depths of dub.
Hotdrop's poposal turns out to be a very attractive and recommendable option, if you are in the mood to explore new sound dimensions.
